She usually does not share the knowledge of her high psy powers, except with a few select individuals. She prefers not to use them, and rather rely on the ways of combat taught at Starfleet academy. If it is needed, she will readily use her psy powers to protect herself and crew.

Family History: Chaya never knew her father, he died a month after she was born. Her mother never spoke of him, so Chaya grew up without even knowing her father's name. She never really cared either, she was Vulcan, so accepted that her father had died, and, by the time she was at an age where she might want to know something of her father, she has deeply involved in her studies.

Chaya disciplined herself beyond that of other Vulcans, her strict telepathic and telekinetic training the cause of this. She maintained this strict training until she entered Starfleet Academy, at age 17, when she redirected her strict ideals to Starfleet material.

When she was serving aboard her first ship, at age 23, the ship fell under attack, and Chaya became severly injured. This was her major injury, and what was revealed about her surprised the Chief Medical Officer on the ship as well as her. A scan showed that she was not full Vulcan, and half Vulcan, and half Betazoid.

As soon as she was well, she requested leave, and traveled to Vulcan to see her mother, and question her about the scan. Chaya's mother, Siva, said that yes, her father was a Betazoid.. His name was Yatar Rashin, and he had so mastered his emotions, Siva was intrigued by him, which eventually led to their marrige. When Yatar died, Siva knew nothing of the Betazoid culture, so she raised Chaya as any Vulcan child, and did not tell her of her Betazoid heritage in Chaya's best interests.

Chaya left her mother on the next transport to Earth, where her ship was waiting to have a few repair finished. She finally had a fuller understanding of her family, and why she had such great telepathic powers and telekenetic powers, a combination of Vulcan and Betazoid genes, although her outward appearance is fully Vulcan.

When she arrived at Earth, she was confronted about the deception about her race, and she explained to as few people as possibly about it. It was agreed that she should continue to say she was full Vulcan, since it was already in many records that she was full Vulcan. She has kept the fact that she is half Betazoid from all but her captains, and her closest friends.
